A visit from Nolan Blomberg
Update: August 14, 2025
Church Family,
Wednesday night, following our 7 pm Prayer Meeting, the Pulpit Committee met to discuss your feedback and how we believe the Lord is leading Calvary Baptist Church. The feedback you provided was overwhelmingly positive and strongly in favor of having Nolan return as soon as possible. The motion was made to proceed with Nolan’s candidacy and invite him back this Sunday; the motion passed unanimously.
This past Sunday, August 10, I mentioned that the Blombergs may be with us even as soon as this coming Sunday, August 17. The flexibility he has in his position, and having a young family, enabled the pulpit committee to ask if it would be feasible to conduct the two Sunday visits back to back (August 10 and August 17). This was a possibility, but only a possibility as we waited on your feedback and Nolan and Grace’s response to their first visit.
Nolan accepted the invitation to return to Calvary Baptist Church for a second weekend.
This weekend provides great exposure for Nolan to be with the congregation.
-- Nolan will teach the men at our Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, August 16 at 8 am.
-- He will teach a combined Teen Sunday School class (Sunday, August 17 at 9:14 am). This class is for students entering 6th through 12th grade this year. Parents are welcome to sit in on the class or (if seating permits) others can observe Nolan teaching and interacting with the teens.
-- Finally, Nolan will lead the singing portion of our worship services in the morning (10:30 am) and evening (6:00 pm).
We will not have any specific meals scheduled with Nolan (except for Men’s Breakfast); therefore, if you want to spend additional time with him, feel free to reach out and connect with him.
My encouragement is that we continue to pray for wisdom and clarity of the Lord’s will regarding Nolan’s candidacy. Proverbs 20:18a reads, “Counsel establishes plans;” and Proverbs 16:9, “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” The Pulpit Committee asks that you provide feedback by Wednesday, August 20, at 5 pm.
Always upward,
Justin Gort

More about Nolan
"God opened my eyes to my need for a savior when I was 8 years old. Though I grew up in a Christian family and knew the Bible, I had not yet trusted Christ to save my own sinful self. God convicted me of this one night as I was lying in bed. I called my parents in and they again shared the Gospel with me. That night I trusted in Christ's work on the cross to take the punishment I deserved. I placed my faith in Him to save me from my sin. He saved me! Though every day I still struggle with the temptation to sin, I look forward to my heavenly home when I can finally be rid of sin and in perfect fellowship with my Savior."
Ever since that night, God has grown in Nolan a deep desire to point others to Him. Though Nolan didn't know it, God began training him for the ministry in all sorts of opportunities: in music, in VBS, in camp counseling, in missions trips to Israel and Peru, and in student leadership in college.
Nolan attended Faith Baptist Bible College, where he met his future wife, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies, and continued to grow in his love for the Lord and his burden for young people.
After graduation, Nolan married his best friend and sweetheart, Grace in June 2017. Shortly after their wedding, God used several circumstances and godly mentors to open Nolan's ears and heart to the call to ministry, which Nolan gladly recognized.
After training from his local church, Pastor Nolan accepted the call from Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church to be their Associate Pastor. He began on July 1st, 2019, taking leadership in the music ministry, youth ministry, and media outlets.
Pastor Nolan and his wife Grace have four children.
He loves writing music and playing frisbee.
"God’s work in my heart and life is obvious. I firmly believe that God is calling me to vocational ministry. If not at Calvary Baptist Church, I will follow Him to wherever He will lead. My job is obedience, and I have let Him do the calling. All I know is that He is calling me. I know not where. He has opened this door and I am stepping through. Here I am, Lord. Send me." - Nolan
